Wildlife in Bahrain
Bahrain has a rich biodiversity and is home to about 330 species of birds, 18 species of mammals, 21 species of butterflies, 25 species of amphibians and reptiles and 307 species of flora. Bahrain has taken a great interest in protecting the receding bio diversity, and has declared five protected zones- Hawar Islands, Arad bay, in Muharraq, Tubil Bay, Mashtan Island, off the coast of Bahrain and Al Areen Wildlife Park. Of these, only Al Areen Wildlife Park is dedicated to protecting land animals and flora, while the others are dedicated to protecting marine life in the country.
